I'm Going to the Fair!

In our small community the Fair is the event of the year. I am ready. I am rested. I am ready to eat Fair food and lots of it. My warm sweaters are packed. Long days, late nights...crowds of people, traffic jams...I can't wait. Bring it on!

I will be working in the building which houses the artwork and projects of our area schools.

It is always refreshing to see the talent, the creativity, and positive energy of our youth. I will visit with old friends, congratulate children on a job well done and watch families as they celebrate with their children. When not working I will check out the other exhibits including the quilts, photography, needlecrafts, animals, vegetables, flowers...and I will eat my way through the fair starting with cotton candy, soup in a bread bowl, fried dough, apple crisp with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream and homemade fudge. Then there are the rides - the ferris wheel, the merry-go-round, the bumper cars. I look forward to the fair all year long - I feel like a kid again as I run around the fairgrounds, excited to be there.

Here are just a few examples of the incredible artwork done by the students...

And for the next four days I will be surrounded by the ...

I also entered my butternut squash, cherry tomatoes, and hot 'burn your face off' peppers in the vegetable department. Hope they win a blue ribbon! I will let you know.

What are your plans for this weekend? See you after the Fair!

Hi Deb...I see elaine likes the Charlotte's Web pic, too lol...I loved them all actually but Charlotte has always been a favorite...I hope you win a blue ribbon, too! I love the State Fair and wish we had County fairs again, too but they've been replaced by "festivals"...can't get to all of them!

Those are great pics. I am going to show my kids the pics after school today. My middle child will love the one of Wilber b/c that is the book she is reading to me each night.

I hope you win!

We are going camping with friends! I shall spend the entire weekend laughing and enjoying my children.

I'm so happy for you that you can spend four days at the fair! A state fair has been one of my favorite annual events since I was little and now living in Minnesota I've found their fair is phenomenal!
Will come back for a recap of the food and frolic. Thanks for sharing.

Great artwork.
Those fairs are so much fun. I attended one last weekend. I always get wrapped up at the hot dog stand. That's my favorite part.

Elaine ~The pig was a big hit! I will be writing soon about my ribbons.

Sandi ~ Welcome! I wish our Fair was longer - it went by too fast.

Andrea ~ Hope you had better weather than we did this past weekend. You are so lucky that your daughter reads to you each night ~ Enjoy.

Ake ~ Thank you for crossing your fingers! I should have had you crossing your toes too. :)

Louise ~ I love art but I LOVE children's artwork. Kids have an inner confidence which unfortunately gets lost as we grow up. The kids were so proud to see ribbons on their work. It was a celebration.

PEA ~ Thanks for sending good thoughts my way. :)

Nonizamboni ~ Welcome! I will be writing my recap soon. I am recovering from 4 days of SUGAR, and lack of sleep. But I don't regret it - at all. I will be over to visit you soon. :)

Marmite ~ It was an interesting time!

Helena ~ Hmmm... when I have a minute I am going to have to compare the NH map with a map of Finland. The map was drawn by 4th graders. :)

Bev ~ I ate my way through the fair - pass the pepto-bismol! :)

Marg ~ I just realized we don't even have a hotdog stand at our fair. Maybe I will open one next year! Of course I don't think I could have fit one more piece of food in my belly. :)

Merisi ~ Thanks :)
